Winter Flowers

I did expect to paint flowers, just not exactly these. I spent well over an hour setting up a little group of flowers in a vase, arranging and then rearranging.

Then when I took a few out and set them aside in a jar, I saw those and laughed at loud- those were the ones to paint!

I apologize for the picture, it was almost as difficult to photograph as it was to paint. Almost. I'll get a better shot in the next few days and repost this one..

Painting a still life in one day is a huge challenge and I spent hours longer painting than I ever could outside- the blessing and curse of the still life.

The weather is a little crazy these last few days with bouts of rain and sun all mixed together, I'm looking forward to getting out for some plein air painting.

Thanks Ellie, this one involved a little sweat. I need to get a better photo up to do it justice.
Happy painting!
